Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology (PGDCP)
Description of the programme
This comprehensive Programme would allow students to gain in-depth understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the field of Counselling Psychology. It will combine both academic rigor and practical hands-on training essential for professional competence. The curriculum includes coursework, Supervised Practicum encouraging students to acquire counselling skills with a commitment to ethical standards and an orientation to multicultural perspective. It trains students to be ethical, effective, competent, and culturally sensitive professionals, able to function in a variety of settings with diverse client populations.
In addition to the fulfilment of the academic requirements and supervised skill practice, a major emphasis is on personal growth and skills training and students are provided with opportunities to grow in self-awareness through mentoring programmes and personal counselling services.

Evaluation of Academic Performance
At MIAS, we follow Continuous Formative Evaluation (CFE) system which refers to any form of frequent assessment, such as tests, essays, projects or presentation during the course, in which the goal is to give students early and continuous feedback about their performance, to help the student improve during their semester consistently.
Lateral Entry to M.Sc Counselling Psychology Programme
The Postgraduate Diploma Programme is accredited by Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Shillong, Meghalaya. A student who completes the PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology will be eligible to join the second year of the MSc/MSW through lateral entry at MLCU
All lateral entry students are expected to register directly with MLCU at the beginning of the second year (as per MLCU notification) and spend 3-4 weeks in Shillong for the course. A student may opt to continue the remaining course work of their second year at Shillong or at any of the approved partner institutions.
